Desperately seeking fame

They long to be famous, even when naysayers say they are being unrealistic.

Miss Tan Yi Shiean (above), who wants to be a model, reckons that the only thing standing between her and her childhood dream is her misaligned teeth. She has spent more than $8,000 to fix her teeth, so that she will have a better chance at strutting high fashion runways.

Miss Jen Koh also yearns to be a household name and enjoy the perks of stardom. She says: "Once you become famous, you can do anything you want, really.”

The aspiring songbird quit her air stewardess job, to focus on events work full time, hoping to meet someone who will support her dream of becoming famous.

He scored scored 4As at the A-level examinations last year. But it is Bollywood, not Ivy League universities, that Mr Shrey Bhargava, 19, is eyeing.

“What’s the use of earning so much money, if you’re not happy doing what you do?” he says.
