The five-metre fall landed Mr Tayfun Altin (above) in hospital for a year and required him to undergo two years of rehabilitation.

He fell through a skylight opening on a roof at a work site near Grange Road in November 2007, fractured his pelvis and left wrist, and dislocated his left middle finger.

Mr Altin, now 31, had to undergo 15 operations - one for his wrist, another to replace his hip, and the rest to treat infection that had set in his pelvic region.

Last week, he received $425,000 in damages for the accident after taking the main contractor of the work site to court.
