Singapore DJ Mike Kasem's father, Casey Kasem, has been found days after his children alleged that Casey's second wife Jean had taken him to a "secret location".

The police told US media that Casey and his wife were found in Washington State on Wednesday - just hours after the former "Top 40" host's daughter filed a missing persons report.

The children of Casey’s first wife and his present wife, Jean, have been locked in a long battle over access to the former star of American Top 40.

Casey's daughter, Kerri, had last seen him on May 6. The older Mr Kasem suffers from Parkinson’s disease and was being looked after at a hospital in Santa Monica, California, in the United States.

Kerri was appointed his temporary caretaker by the court on Monday. A judge had ordered an investigation into his whereabouts on Monday after Jean failed to turn up for a court hearing.

Not in distress

The authorities found Casey and his wife visiting longtime friends at home in a county just west of Seattle. A spokesman for the Kitsap County sheriff's office said that the couple was there on vacation. The police stayed for 40 minutes and concluded that Kasem was alert and was receiving appropriate care. The authorities left after noting that he was not in distress.

Kerri released a statement expressing relief that her father has been found. She also added: "The family has grave concerns about his health and will do everything in their power to bring him back home."
