He heard and saw the big tree branch fall, and the first thought that flashed across Mr Avtar Singh’s mind was, what if someone got hit by it?
Sadly, his fear was confirmed — the branch landed on a woman, who’s now in hospital because of it.
The incident happened just outside the Hyflux Innovation Centre at Bendemeer Road at around 9.30am yesterday.
The branch, which was about five metres long, crashed into Madam Cao Yanyan, a woman in her 30s, who happened to be walking underneath it.
Madam Cao, an employee of IT company NEC, was rushed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where she is now warded in the neuro intensive care unit.
A JTC Corporation spokesman said that the tree which fell, an Angsana tree, was last inspected in January and found to healthy.
